5 Tips To Keep You Sane When You're Ill

I find one of the most annoying things is when you’re ill and you’re not well enough to leave your house (especially if the time your ill is a week that you've booked off work like me…), so I'm currently sitting on my bed and have been for the past 3 days. It’s driving me crazy! So I've been trying to find things to keep myself occupied and cure me, so I thought I’d share with you my 5 tips to staying sane and to help make you feel better when you're ill.



1. Have lots and lots of comfort food near by. For me this is Ben and Berry’s Ice cream. Munch down like there is no tomorrow, because when your ill, all you need are things to make you feel better, and I find lots of ice cream does this for me!



2. Keep lots of reading material with you. Whether this be magazines, books or your laptop so you can catch up on some blogs, this will keep you sane and your brain active (although reading magazines and blogs does usually make you want to spend lots of money, so I managed to drag myself out of bed and go shopping yesterday for an hour!).



3. Make a pile of DVDs near you and watch them all! Even though I have lots of things to read, sometimes I just need to stick a film on and relax. Sometimes this is the best time to have a snooze too which does perk me up a bit!



4. Drink lots and lots of fluids. If you've read my previous posts I do love different flavours of tea, however when I'm ill my taste buds disappear so I'm just drinking regular afternoon tea at the moment. But this one is highly important as keeping your fluids up helps toward making you feel better.



5. Keep drugged up! Legal drugs that is! I have my packet of Beechams near me, and if it wasn’t for them, I think I’d feel a lot worse. But always make sure you take the recommended amount, otherwise it can actually make you worse.



So that’s my 5 tips to keeping sane when you're ill! I apologise if this post was a bit all over the place. If you haven’t guessed, I'm quite ill at the moment. I'm pretty sure it was a cold to start off with, but I just got worse and worse, so that's why I've resorted to these!

  1. mmm...Ben & Jerry's Cookie is the absolute best. Have you tried warming up some milk & tea? I know milk isn't the best option with a stuffy nose but there is soymilk. Instead of adding the milk to the tea, you just add the tea bag to the milk with honey. That always gives me life again when I'm ill :)))

  3. Whenever I'm ill I just lay in bed and watch TV (lots of Netflix) I also take medicine throughout the day... I find that if I just stay in bed and nap I get better very quickly :)

    1. I've started to take lots of medicine the past few days so hopefully it'll all start kicking in soon, may have to start watching Netflix as I can imagine I'm getting close to having nothing left to watch! :)

  5. This was a lovely post and i agree, watch a whole lot of DVD's! It's probably a good time to start binge watching a new tv show too :) and get well soon!
