Shape Up Sunday - Week 1

Welcome to the very first post of my new series named 'Shape Up Sunday!' I previously mentioned on twitter a couple of days ago that every single day this week I have had either a take away or a meal out, and I can totally see the pounds piling on and I feel so sluggish! So I have put my foot down to these unhealthy eating habits and I'm going to start exercising. So this is where 'Shape Up Sunday!' comes in. 
I've decided every week I want to share with you what I've been up to, what food I have been eating and how the weight loss is going. Hopefully this will motivate me more but also motivate anyone else out there who wants to join me in my weight loss journey! So I'm going to be honest straight away, I'm going to share with you my weight (and my height) so you can see exactly if what I'm doing is working, so here goes... Eeek!

My current weight this morning was...

12st 13lbs!
(Height: 5'6")

So currently I'm fairly over weight for my height. According to a BMI chart, my perfect weight should be 9st 8lbs, however I never really like using a BMI chart as it doesn't take muscle mass into account (not like I have a lot of muscle anyway!), so I'm setting my goal weight as 10st. So all in all, I want to lose about 2st 13lbs.

As I have had a bad week with my eating and laziness, I have no inspirational tips to share, so I am going to share with you my biggest weaknesses and how I plan to conquer them.

My biggest weaknesses are;

  • Food portions. I love having a big massive plate in front of me knowing I have lots to eat. What can I say, I love food!
  • My Laziness. I am seriously the laziest person in the world. I sometimes don't get up even if it is for food!
  • I love baking. This is a real big problem for me, because I eat most of the baking afterwards!
These definitely have to be the biggest things that stand in my way to losing weight, so I'm trying to think of the best ways around them.

  1. I can easily reduce my portion sizes, this is just willpower. I really need to stay determined and remind myself that I want to lose weight.
  2. I honestly have no idea how to stop myself from being lazy. My fiancĂ© does do a lot for me so I must convince him to stop it! Anyone have any good tips for this?!
  3. My plan with baking is not to stop, but to change what I bake. There is plenty of healthy recipes out there, which still taste just as good.
These are what I'm going to start doing this week, with the odd bit of exercise here and there, and hopefully I'll feel a difference by the end of the week.

  2. Glad I stumbled across your blog Im trying to do the same as Im 5ft and 9 and half stone and my weight should be 8.4 to be in the middle of my BMI hope you stick to it and look forward to updates

    1. Thank you! :) Good luck in your weight loss too! It seems so far away to start off with, but after all the hard work you'll feel much better in the end. I just need to get off my lazy butt! Lol x

    I find the best way to make it look like you have a massive plate of food is to use a smaller side plate and that way you can make the portion smaller but it looks more. All a trick of the mind :)

  4. Great post! I am also on a weight loss journey, 2 stone 10lbs down, only 1 stone 1lb to go! :)
    I use the My Fitness Pal app, to track my calorie intake, exercise and weight loss, I find it really helps to stay on track!
