Clinique Make Up - Oil Free!

A couple of posts ago I mentioned that I'm going through a course of laser treatment to clear acne on my face. Because of this I have gone from using a rather oily based foundation to a oil free one by Clinique. Doing this was one of the best decisions I have made and so I thought I'd share with you what I got and why I like it!

When applying my make up, first I put on the Clinique Super Primer - Colour Corrects Redness. This one is the only one I bought which I am still unsure about. I can't really see a massive difference in the redness, however this may be because I've not only got a lot of redness, but I still have some acne and therefore I'm not expecting all the redness to be removed by this. I guess maybe after my acne has mostly cleared I will see the benefit of using it. I'm still loving using it though as it has such a lovely velvety feeling to it. It helps smooth my face ready for the next stage.

After using the primer, I go onto applying some concealer. I'm gutted as I didn't actually buy one from Clinique. I'm using the Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer, and unfortunately after looking at the ingredients I've noticed it does contain oil, so I'll be changing that soon!

But after the concealer I apply the Clinique Anti-Blemish Solutions - Liquid Makeup. I apply this using a make up sponge. As I'm so pale I need the lightest shade available, in this case it's 'Fresh Alabaster'. I always worry that if I try a new foundation, especially one more on the pricey side, it won't cover my face well as the pale shade won't hide redness. I couldn't be more wrong. This foundation seriously is better than any other I've had. It hides redness and spots very well, and it blends in to the rest of the face very easily. I do tend to do more than one layer as I feel it boosts my confidence a little bit more, but on the days I don't really mind, one layer is enough.

After finishing my foundation, I use the Clinique stay-matte sheer pressed powder, again which is oil-free! I'm pretty much sure the one I bought is a shade too dark for me. I was advised to get the shade '02 Stay Neutral'. After looking on the website, I think the shade 'Stay Buff' would be best for me, however I'm still loving it. It helps give my skin a matte look, which is a great thing for people with oily skin like me. It also gives my face that little bit of extra coverage. I always keep this by my side during the day just in case I need a top up.

So those are the 3 items I got from the Clinique make up range. I really feel they have helped a massive amount to getting my skin back to tip top shape! At the moment my skin is still reasonably bad, but it's a lot better than it was before. I have my next laser treatment tomorrow in London, *Yay!*, so I'm extremely excited!

Have you used any of the Clinique range? Did you love it too? Also, if you have, is there a concealer you would recommend for someone with bad skin like me? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I use the Clinique primer and have done for a while now. I find it helps with my redness a little, but more evens the colour out on my face, especially around my nose area :) I really work the product into my fingers before applying and feel as though that really helps! I may have to try the foundation too, it looks really good!

    1. Ah ok I think I'll start trying that first. I find putting it straight onto my face it doesn't really go far. It's lovely, it feels great on the skin, not too cakey. Definitely worth a try. :) x
