My Weight Loss Journey

A couple of months ago, I started a series called 'Shape Up Sunday'. This went on for a number of weeks, but then I think I got to a point where I wasn't losing the weight quick enough so I gave up. Not the attitude you should have, but I did. I didn't feel comfortable in my body. I felt like everyone would always be staring at my stomach, my arms, and my rather chubby cheeks. I knew I had to do something, but I was so stubborn I didn't really want to.

But then one day my mum and I were talking about how we both needed to lose some weight, (I have already bought an off the rail wedding dress that I need to fit into by August 2015), so we had a look around for local slimming world groups. We found a lovely group in my parents village so we joined before we changed our minds, which is a habit I can get into!

I did not have high hopes. I first thought it was all a load of boloney to say the least! But once we went for our first session, and met our lovely consultant we immediately felt at home. The plans were much easier than we thought, and we were able to eat a lot more than we thought too! We got stuck into it straight away and I can tell you now I would not change it for the world. I have so much fun going to our meetings every week, seeing our new friends, talking about all the delicious food we have been eating, it's great! At first it was just my mum, one of my bridesmaids, and myself. But now my partner and even one of my other bridesmaids mum has joined, and I must say they are all doing brilliantly. I am so very proud!

I did not think I had it in me to lose the weight I wanted to. When I started at group I weighed 12st 12lbs (Height: 5ft6"). Now after about 15 weeks, my weight now is 10st 10lbs. So in total I have lost 2st 2lbs. I am so close to my target weight, and it's so exciting! I have dropped 2 dress sizes, and I can seriously notice a difference in the mirror, especially in my legs which I really didn't expect! I now fit so much better in my wedding dress, and I now feel confident in my shape. It's the best I have felt in years. The key is sticking to it though, which I have learnt the hard way as after a heavy weekend of eating rubbish food, I noticed it when weighing in again!

In the end, I have to thank Slimming World, especially my consultant. Without them, I could not have done it.

I know a lot of you who read my 'Shape Up Sunday' series were going through your own weight lose journeys too. I hope your all doing great, but if you need just that little bit more support, or you feel yourself slipping, pop along to your local slimming world group, as they will welcome you with open arms. By no means this is me telling you to lose weight, but if you don't feel comfortable and want to make a change to your weight, I could not recommend Slimming World enough. I have not been asked to write this about Slimming world. These are my own opinions and experiences with the group, as they really did get me out of my weight loss rut, and I could not be thankful enough. I guess this is just an update for all of you who read my previous weight loss posts and what helped me get there.

I can't go into too much detail about the slimming world plans, but trust me, you are still allowed to eat chocolate, chips and sugary treats. That's the great thing about it! It's just changing a few habits and cooking styles, then you're on your way to that great weight loss. You can make great tasting food healthy! Simple! My favourite slimming world recipe is probably Pulled Pork. So god damn tasty!!

If you're doing your own weight loss journey, let me know how it's going the comments! Have you tried Slimming world? How did you find your experience?

Have a lovely day!

  1. Lovely to read your weight loss journey catch up. I used to really enjoy your Shape Up Sunday posts - they made me want to make the most of the next week ahead!
I recently joined Slimming World too and lost 2lbs in my first week. After a 0.5lb gain this week I felt a little disheartened, but after reading your post I definitely think it is do-able!

I'm a similar weight to where you started and would love to have the same success as you!

Well done! And good luck with the rest of your weight loss journey.

    1. Aw thank you! I do want to start the Shape Up Sunday series again, I just need to kick myself up the butt and actually do it again! Lol :)
That's great, well done! We all have slow weeks, but as long as you don't give up, you'll have a great week next time. I'm slipping up at the moment, I have my weigh in Wednesday and I have a feeling I've gained about 2lbs! :S But I keep on telling myself not to give up and to try and stick by it, then the gain shouldn't be as bad.

I'm sure you'll get to your target in no time! I hope your doing well at the moment!

      Thank you! :D x x x
